Thanks

Today would have been Grandma Glenna's 89th birthday. She was Jerry's grandmother and the one who provided my engagement ring. Jerry was close to his Grandma Glenna and credits much of his upbringing to her. She sounds like she was a wonderful woman. Unfortunately, she passed away just 2 months before Jerry and I started dating. It's an honor to wear her ring.

Happy Birthday Grandma Glenna!!

My ring.....

I got my ring back this weekend and it is perfect!! I love it. I love looking at it and I catch myself doing it all the time. It's amazing that something so small can mean so much.

The wedding plans are coming right along. We have done a lot but there is SO much yet to do. Right now, the priority is getting the save the date cards mailed out. Since so many of our guests are from out of state, this one is especially important. I have also put some feelers out to different caterers in the area so hopefully we can get something in the books for that as well.

Despite a few minor frustrations, Jerry and I have really been a good team in the whole process. He has had some cool ideas and it's fun to be doing it together. I am thankful that he wants to be involved. It makes the whole thing much more "ours".

Only 122 days left!!

Good Weekend

It's Monday again and I had a great weekend! Angie and Alyssa came to visit and see my house. We went and had manicures and pedicures and ate out a couple times. Saturday night was my housewarming party and it was a success!! It was really fun to see some old friends and family! Plus, it kinda turned into an impromptu engagement party. Fun!!

Sunday, Angie, Alyssa and I went to Southpoint Mall and looked at bridesmaid dresses. We ate lunch at Champs! yum! It was nice to hang out with them and have a 'girls' weekend. They left in the afternoon and I sang at church last night. Then we hung out with Joe and Jessica who got engaged a week before us! It was a great weekend with family and friends. Hooray!

And We're Off!!

Wedding mayhem has begun! After some deliberation and schedule checking, Jerry and I have set the date for....drum roll please....August 25th! Yes, as in 4 months and 6 days from now. In other words, we have work to do! but we are in good shape, we have the ceremony and reception sites set, I am narrowing down bridesmaid dresses and I already have my dress! Piece of cake. Speaking of cake, we have ideas for that too! At this point, we are focusing on gathering the rest of the addresses and getting our Save the Date cards out. This will take a load off for me because I want to make sure our out of town friends have plenty of time to plan.

Like my fiancee said, we will feel better once we start narrowing things down and make some choices. Then it will just be the execution phase which is the fun part. But who are we kidding, it's all fun!!

I dropped off my ring to get sized on Monday night. I am hoping to have it back in time for the party on Saturday. I miss it! It's so pretty and so mine! I love being engaged.

More to come!

I can't believe I made that putt!

Today is Saturday. Today I am making plans to marry the love of my life in October. Rewind 24 hours.

Yesterday was a typical day, work was slightly busy. I took a walk on my lunch break and had an apple at about 3pm. Friday night, Jerry and Krusty came over to have dinner which is also pretty normal. We were tired so just had some frozen pizza and brussel sprouts (remarkably common for us, sadly). After dinner, we decided to get some putting on the disc golf basket in while the sun was still out. We play a lot of disc golf, so of course Jerry has a basket in the back yard. As Jerry was putting, he said ok, if I make 4 of the next 7 putts, we'll go out tonight. I responded, ok and if you make all 7, then you have to propose to me tonight!

Well, he only made 1of the 7. Needless to say, we didn't go out. But the story continues. He then said, ok, you do it, if you make all 7, I'll propose. Well, I made 1 also. So then it was a Putt-off!! We went through 3 best of 7s with Jerry "winning" every time. The last one was a tie that ended with him winning in sudden death. So, because the time was right and we were having such a great time, he gave me all or nothing stakes. From about 50 feet off the basket, he said, 'ok, all or nothing. If you make this putt, you win'. So I zeroed in, knowing this was it, focused and threw. CHING. The disc landed firmly in the basket!!! We both screamed and laughed and hugged and then didn't really know what would happen next.

We decided to go over to Jerry's house and after we were there for a while, he started talking about what fun we have together and he said that he wants to make it last and be married to me and said, I want to be married to you, I want to get married, will you marry me?? Of course I said yes.

He then pulled a ring out of his pocket that he explained was the ring his Grandma Glenna wore for over 50 years. He then put it on my finger.

I am engaged!

Another week...

This week has gone by so fast! I can't believe it's the weekend again! I love it! Only one more week til Angie and Alyssa come to visit. Yippee! We are going to have a fun time having a girls weekend and then my party is Saturday night! I am looking forward to it! I have lots of little odds and ends to wrap up in the next few days leading up to it. Shopping, cleaning, get the bed for the guest room...etc.

My job is going well. This has been a good week. Slow at times, busy at others. A nice balance. I am starting to feel more comfortable and getting to know my coworkers better and all that. I feel good about it.

Tomorrow is the day we take Krusty for his herding evaluation!! I am so excited! I think it is going to be really fun and just a neat/different thing to do on a Saturday. Tomorrow night I am having some folks over and we are going to try our hand at 4 part harmonies. Should be fun!

I am hoping to take a walk on the greenway today. The weather hasn't been awesome this week so I haven't been out yet. Here's hoping!

Have a great weekend!

Headache

I have a headache right now. I don't think it is a caffeine headache, but it is a possibility. I went from around 4-5 caffeinated drinks/day down to just one travel mug of coffee in the morning when I switched jobs. Every once and a while I'll have a diet coke in the afternoon/evening, but that's about it. Though, I did have quite a bit yesterday so maybe it's a slight withdrawal.

Yesterday was Easter Sunday. Jerry and I played in the band for all 3 morning services, which means we were there for roughly 6 hours. Mom and Dad came to the last service, so we had lunch together at Mellow Mushroom...which of course meant more caffeine. If you don't have beer with your pizza, then surely you must have soda. It was delicious.

We went for a walk in the evening with Krusty when the weather was finally not too freezing and I spent the remainder of the night laying on my couch staring at the television.

It was a good weekend and hopefully this will be a good week! I have a few goals:

- Keep a positive attitude
- When I don't want to wake up in the morning, think about why I am getting up. In order to live in a house that I love by working at a job that I was really blessed with.
- Be patient with others. (so simple, yet difficult)
- Don't worry. Be Happy.

:-) Have a great Monday !!

A Walk in the Woods.....

I received an email the other day. It was one of those mass work emails that I try to ignore, but this one intrigued me. "Unfortunately, the fence completely blocks both of the access points to the Greenway......... I met with our neighbors at the Apartments and they have been kind enough to allow us to gain access to the Greenway from their property." Excuse me? We have a Greenway!?!? One that I can take walks on during lunch or access for a few minutes of much needed time away from flourescent lighting??
I had to know more. So yesterday, I ventured out. I started walking down this lovely path, and almost instantly felt refreshed and rejuvenated. It's amazing what a little sunshine and fresh air will do. After a little ways, the trail opened up to a beautiful Lake view!!

I walked for 40 minutes and came back feeling great about the afternoon. Today I walked for 30 minutes. I can see a habit forming. What a find!!

In other news, tonight is Maundy Thursday. Jerry is playing with a band of about 9 other people. I am really looking forward to it. There is also going to be a video that goes with the music. It sounds really cool.

The weekend is almost upon us! What are your plans??
